Industries:

In 2009 Royal Mail embarked on an ambitious project to fully automate the sorting of letters by installing over 660 letter sorting machines comprising 22 large flat sorting machines, 75 intelligent Letter Sorting Machines (iLSM’s) and 570 compact sort sequencing machines; supplied by Solystic in France.

RM Manufacturing were successful in securing two contracts with Solystic worth over £10.0m. The second contract was for the installation of all 667 machines across the UK.

In addition, RM Manufacturing carried out all site enabling works, including mechanical, electrical and building works necessary to prepare the buildings for receipt of the new machines.

RM Manufacturing also undertook the movement of some 350 legacy sorting machines to facilitate the installation of the new machines, including controlled disposal of obsolete equipment.

RM Manufacturing acted as Principal Contractor for the entire project which was carried out under CDM Regulations.
